Advent is a Season in most Christian denominations as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for both, the celebration of the Nativity of Christ at Christmas and the return of Christ at the Second Coming.
At Grace Street Fellowship, we will start with the Prophecy Candle representing Hope. The promise of a savior fulfilled by Jesus Christ and the Hope of His return to take His church home to heaven.
The second Sunday will be the Bethlehem Candle representing Peace and symbolizes Christ’s manger.
The third Sunday will be the Shepherd’s Candle representing Joy.
The fourth Sunday is the Angel’s Candle representing Love.
At Grace, the Christ Candle will be lit during the Christmas Eve service. It represents the life of Jesus Christ that has come as a light to the world representing purity. A bright Light in a dark world. Our Holy God stepping down into humanity to save the world!
